Family & Friends are here to play!

It takes a village to raise a child, so choose your village wisely!

During our family and friends theme, we celebrated our caring and positive community. Our kindergym community is a group of like minded people who share a kids first mindset and value the lessons and skills that gymnastics participation provides.

We know that coming to Kindergym is a special part of the week, so in our final week of this theme, our members invited a family member or special friend to come along and join the fun! It was so great to see them take the lead and show off their special place.

Discover the Set Up

Throughout this theme we got moving on the floor, beams and monkey bars!

We stepped into our camping shoes and adventured through lots of camping activities on the blue floor zone! ⛺ We began by climbing up a steep mountain, using a rope to reach the top. The rope helped us build strong arm muscles and tested our coordination skills. Then, using a map and our directional knowledge, we went on a hike! 🏃 The camp fire at the end of the trail was set up to help us work on core strength while we warmed our hands, before switching to arm strength to lower the marshmallow into the fire for a tasty treat after a long adventure in the outdoors!

It was a party over at the beam zone with balloons, streamers and presents too! 🎊 We picked up a party invitation to find instructions for making our way across the first balance beam, then we carefully stepped over the party hats on the next beam! 🥳 A celebration with our friends is always fun with streamers, and we danced with rainbow coloured streamers all the way across the high beam. Then a traditional party game took on a gymnastics slant as our gymnasts aimed to hold their balance while they bobbed all the way down on the low beams to pin the tail on the donkey 🎉

Our rings area was all about being at home with our family! 🏠 👪  We helped our family to hang the washing on the line and then had some fun becoming the washing on the line ourselves! We climbed into the pantry to find the food we would like to dish up for lunch, before scooting back to the kitchen table to serve up a tasty meal! 🍲 After all the fun and helping, we hopped into bed forward roll style and snuggled up to our teddy!

Together as a community…

Let me tell you a quick story…

The Aerodynamix community has been growing for many years now, starting out as a smaller gymnastics centre with the name of Mountain Districts Gymnastics. This is where many of our coaches were inspired to begin their coaching journey - we’ve grown up together and we have shared so many memories!

In 2015, we expanded our community and developed into the strong team we have here at Aerodynamix Gymnastics. Community is key to our success today, and shared values underpin our aim to make gymnastics a positive experience that builds skills, teaches life lessons and creates fond memories. Community is a big part of our culture and we bring the heart of our small start to the operation of our big club so that our members feel important and known in every class, from Kindergym all the way through to our highest level classes.

In the words of coach Beth, “We care about being fair, giving children space and time to learn while encouraging safe, healthy habits that will continue with them throughout their lifetime. Each of our coaches has their own unique aspects that they bring to our team and into our classes here at Aerodynamix. We build on the fundamentals when we come together and create content that suits every group throughout the gym, bringing the community we all grew up with into the classes we coach today with a key focus of fun, fitness and friendship. It has been a delight to see some of our past coaches return with their own children to join a class and even coming back to train with out current coaches themselves!”

Friends and family coming along to kindergym have the chance to expand their personal community and share the experience of bringing up a child. We love being witness to friendships being formed as children learn and grow together, and also in the adult carers that come along as well. It brings back memories for our coaches, who can see a whole future beyond these initial interactions. We are also so proud to have many original Mountain Districts members returning to gymnastics at Aerodynamix to give their own children the chance to make gymnastics a centre for fun, fitness and friendship. A simple desire with such a positive impact. This week, little Darcie filled our hearts when she arrived in her Mum’s original MDG yellow leotard - take a look at the happiness!

Darcie & Mel 2022. Mel grew up at MDG herself and now owns Aerodynamix. Mel was delighted to see Darcie bring her grandparents in to the gym, who originally made this special leotard purchase for Darcie’s Mum, Tarryn!

A friendly face whom you might have seen around the gym during kindergym is Rachael. She works in our office and also coaches some of our ALP WAG and recreational classes! Here is a final word from her…

“I started gymnastics in 2005 at MDG alongside some of the coaches you see in the gym today. Mountain District Gymnastics & Aerodynamix Gymnastics has always felt like family to me and been my second home. I have coached for over 12 years now and I love the relationships I get to build with members while both on the floor coaching and while working in admin.” - Rachael
