Jungle drum roll please…
Join us on an Kindergym adventure as we explore the furry, scaly, and feathery creatures that live in the sky, sea and on the land.
Get ready to walk like a bear, crawl like a caterpillar and jump like a frog as we introduce our bodies to new ways of moving! Then grab a jungle drum and jam together to the jungle tunes.
Discover the Set Up
Come on in & walk around…what will you see?
Our activity circuits are purposefully designed to promote learning opportunities through movement and play. Some children will discover the frogs on the log first, some will spot our giraffe way up high and others will spend lots of time exploring before they finally come across our tiny colourful butterflies. Attractive themes can encourage and entice even nervous participants to stretch out their comfort zone and try something new. It’s quite amazing to transform the gym into such an exciting world for our littlest members to enjoy each week!
We have 3 different areas set up for our animal adventure and over the next three weeks children will get to experience each area twice - first to be introduced to the movement activities and then to consolidate or extend the learning.
This theme we are spending our time on the beams, floor and rings & ropes.
On the Beams we are taking a close look at bugs & insects and travelling back in time to jump and stomp like the dinosaurs.
At Rings & Rope we are taking off on a safari - swinging like monkeys and climbing across the giant snakes.
And we have plenty of room to play on the Floor as we develop our agility and coordination on the farm as we round up the sheep and roll through the ‘mud’ with our friend the pig.
Movement Matters
At Kindergym, the movement opportunities are plentiful!
Our movement focus during this theme is locomotion. Locomotion is the method that we choose to use to get from here to there and animals inspire many ways to do just that! Getting up and moving is good for all of us, not just the kids, so follow their lead and join the fun - run, jump, leap, climb and swing your way around the gym with us. Experimenting with different movement style builds denser bones, strong muscles and all that moving is good for the heart too, helping to get the blood pumping and give us those rosy cheeks.
By varying the movement style, we stimulate lots of different muscle actions. Being on all fours helps to develop core strength and upper body strength and is the very first step toward mastering handstands. When children have a strong core (or trunk), they are able to sit up at a table, play on the floor without drooping or slumping and even dress themselves more easily. A strong core can also allow your child to pay attention and concentrate more easily.
Did you know that our body has more than 600 muscles? I’m pretty sure that we can get all 600 working as we mimic all of our different animal friends!
Gym Kids are Smart Kids
At Kindergym we don’t just teach cartwheels 🤸♂️ we teach children 💡!
Our themed lessons provide so many opportunities to learn about the world around us, so pause and listen to the questions that come up. This week we stepped back in time to rediscover dinosaurs and we loved naming and learning about the Pterodactyls & T-Rex 🦖!
